This company is offering very cheap conference calls but I think the sting is in the 0845 number. Their website says they are based in London but gives no address. I have done all the searches suggested but cannot find the alternative number. Am grateful for your help. thanks

neither are Cable & Wireless numbers,,, just checked

But this would be one of the rare legitimate use,s of a 0845 number ( the provision of a cheap conference call service),just like 0845 low cost intl call gateway numbers. Without being able to take a small cut from the call it would not be worth them offering service.

You've got a point, can't argue with that ... and I appreciate being able to ask, if you can keep your number hidden, might others less worthy be able to do so too? And assuming you are really a London outfit, what were you doing on the computer at 3am?? :-)
