Title: Royal Mail Customer Services - 0845 7740740 Post by wacs on Feb 19th, 2007 at 11:38am
Can't find any previous threads relating to this; it seems as if Royal Mail have changed their geographical number (as given in the database for their 0845 number, including their main number). I'm sure their geographical number worked in the last week even... ?

Royal Mail have many many 0845s. They have adopted one for each of the delivery offices up and down the country. Which one are you talking about? ::) ::) :-? :-? :-? |

It has the network announcement "The number you have dialled has not been recognised". :-/ There is a thread with numbers on for customer services here. The 01752 381222 looks like it could be a switchboard number to me. I've Googled it and got nothing! Going by the numbers, I gather Royal Mail head office is in Plymouth. Other numbers listed on here are 01752 387xxx. |

OR http://oxfordliberal.blogspot.com/2006/12/cheaper-way-to-complain-about-royal.html Same liberal MP "The website SAYNOTO0870.COM provides alternative non-geographic numbers for 0845 numbers etc. In the case of Royal Mail the alternative number which relates to 08457 740 740 is 01752 387 112. Using this latter number may be free for some mobile 'phone users and no more than national rate for landline users. This will stop Royal Mail getting a 'cut' out of people complaining about their service." |

The main number listed as a substitute for 08457-740740, 01752-387105, no longer works. You just get a message saying that you've dialled an "incorrect" number. The alternative listed, 01752-387116, works fine and the staff are very friendly too. :) I suggest changing the numbers listed in the main database to reflect this.

I've just used the geographical number listed on this site for Royal Mail Customer Services: 01752 387 112 (to replace 08457 950 950). I got through, but the chap answering was very abrupt and asked me who I thought I was calling. I told him I was trying to get through to Royal Mail Customer Services (I already knew I had as I'd been listening to a recorded message for about ten minutes) and he told me that, while he could help me this time, in future I would have to use the 0845 number. I told him that the number I was using was free from a mobile whereas I'd have to pay for an 0845 call and he just repeated that he'd be able to help me this time but the geographical number was actually for overseas callers only.
Next time I'll use 141 to withhold my number. |
