Website: www.spicers.net
The contact page direct numbers for various staff members of various departments. Most appear to be 01223 822xxx, so it's probably their direct dialling in (DDI) prefix. If the support is operated by themselves from that office, then I would assume that the 0870 points to one or more of the DDI numbers. If the 0870 number answers with an automatic voicemail service when they are closed, and they haven't recorded a specific message, it may answer with the extension number. For example it may say "Extension 543 is unavailable, please leave a message..." You can then dial 01223 822543 to check that you get the same message. You can then try the number during the daytime, and if it works, come back here and tell us what you've found. If there is no extension number given on the 0870 but it does answer with voicemail, then you could dial through 01223 822xxx numbers to find it. I would do this out of hours and withhold your number. |
Title: SPICERS OFFICE SUPPLIES Post by Officesupplies on Apr 15th, 2010 at 12:47pm
Hi I am looking for an alternate to their 0844 sales number, many thanks in advance.
Here goes, following the suggest request format in the sticky post. 1 - Who is the company? Spicers Office Supplies - Wholesale Stationers 2 - What is the nature of your call? Customer services, complaints, new business etc. It is there trade sellers order line. We are a small stationery supplier and we call them about 10 times a day to order products for our customers. 3 - Where is the company based? I believe the call centre we are redirected to is Spicers Limited, Sawston Cambridge, CB22 3JG I don't have a street address. 4 - Why do you want to contact them? As I say we call them 10 times a day and they refuse to give us a non geographic alternative, and it is costing us a reasonable double digit sum per week in additional call charges. Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give. Best Wishes Stephen |

Hi and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM. I have joined your thread to the existing one for Spicers. You will see above that I made a suggestion about three years ago but that, despite providing help, jiminy did not bother to post feedback to help others. Please try numbers and let us know how you get on; if you find a suitable alternative, then I will list it in the database. :) |
Title: Re: Spicers - Porn Line Post by Officesupplies on Apr 15th, 2010 at 1:22pm
Thanks,
I dialed the number you suggested 01223 834555 and it was some porn line (I'm not being funny) it then sent me a text from 899 90 saying all texts cost £7.50. I presume that's if I am stupid enough to text back. It's fair to say that your advice was not of any use. so I wonder if you could post this back as a new enquiry. Perhaps that's why Jiminy didn't reply as he was so annoyed. So I am still looking for an alternative to 08442380055 which is the order line for Spicers Office Supplies. Regards, S PS I am aware of the Spicers contact page, it doesn't have the answer. |

I and others provide our time on here for free. We therefore do not check numbers; that is down to the person asking for help and in return we simply ask for those we give the help to to help others (through us) by providing feedback. Perhaps with such a cold attitude that "your advice was not of any use", you should go away and look for the number yourself. I found the numbers on the internet, probably through a search engine which is available to you. >:( |

Dave As this number is listed in a number of places as Sicers, out of curiosity I called & reply was " Hello, Spicers". No porn at all. Strange. |
Title: Re: Spicers Post by Officesupplies on Apr 15th, 2010 at 2:17pm
I must apologies profusely, I dialled 01223824555 rather than 01223834555 (the former is most definetly a porn line, thankfully it didn't charge me for the text it sent).
We all give our time for free on these types of forums (I'm a regular contributor on Money Saving Expert), and I appreciate the efforts you made to give me the correct info, sadly it appears I was incapable of dialling correctly and in my shock at the text I received I was a little too quick to cast blame. The number you suggested however is the switchboard who unfortunately refuse to transfer to the order line (08442380055), so if anyone is still interested in helping to get the number for the orderline, I would be grateful and I promise to take more care in dialling this time. :-[ Sincerely, Stephen |

Oops.
I can`t find any other geo numbers other than those already mentioned. However, I did find this which you might find useful? http://www.spicers.co.uk/web-services---spicers-ltd-136.html whereby you can, apparently, order electronically & administer your account etc online. |

Thanks MainBass,
I am aware of the online option, the reason we phone is to negotiate price which gets away from the "Computer says No" phenomenom. Hopefully someone will come up trumps. I must admit I thought companies were obliged legally to provide alternatives, is that not true? S |

I don`t think so, if that were the case there would be no need for this site & our jails would be full to busting. ;D |

Thanks for that; apology accepted. :) Thanks also for the feedback. I have listed the alternative 01223 834555 for 0844 238 0055 and 0844 238 0000, which is given on the Spicers contact page. There is also a number for "Customer Systems Support", 0844 238 0032, but I have not listed that. It may be that the 834555 number is a suitable alternative to all, as they will put you through if they can't deal with your call directly. It may be the case that the different 0844 238 00xx numbers go through to different 01223 834xxx numbers. |

Title: Shoplet.co.uk (0844 238 0012) Post by Dave Rado on Apr 11th, 2014 at 3:02pm
Hi
When I looked up the above number on your database it gave a number for Spicers, 01223 822049. However, when I rang that number, which answers the phone as "Spicers", they said that although Spicers do own Shoplet, they aren't able to transfer calls to them. They said that Shoplet's dedicated number is the above one, i.e. 0844 238 0012. When I said I can't ring 0844 numbers, they said they would email shoplet and ask them to ring me, which they did. When Shoplet rang me, the number that came up on my phone was 01223 822000, so I later tried ringing that number, and the person I got through to (who just answered the phone "hello") transferred me to shoplet. So the Spicers landline number that is on your database isn't really a valid alternative to the above 0844 number, but 01223 822000 is. Please could you update the database? Thanks Dave |
