I rang 01482 584444 Job Centre plus  to speak to Incapacity Benefit to be told that from today the new telephone number is 0845 608 8546.  That is for icome support, Job seekers Allowance, Maternity Benefit
Incapacity Benefit, Bereavement Benefit etc.  Have looked the number up on Internet and as yet can find nothing.  Any help would be appreciated

See this thread on Jobcentre in Chippenham Income Support number. You may also consider putting in a Freedom of Information Act request for the numbers for income support and JSA. See this thread for an example from Sheffield Jobcentre.

I called 01482 584444 and asked for the incapacity benefit section for the Hull area. They said the number changed to 0845 608 8546.  I then said that numbers starting with 08 are barred by the switchboard my calls go through and in any case it is unfair that people who receive incapacity benefit should be calling a higher than normal rate number.

They put me through.    ::)

I suppose the kindness of the operator comes into the picture here, so there is no guarantee that they will put you through, but it is worth a try!

Have just tried again today and again no luck.  They are not even putting you through - adamant that they are just the switch board and cannot do anything.
