Title: Tesco Direct, Tesco 0845 & Tesco 0800 Post by tyutchev on Mar 17th, 2007 at 10:08am
Hi, this is my first post in this forum Just had a run-in with Tesco Direct on matter of flowers for Mothering Sunday (tomorrow). Story so far: Thurs. I ordered, phoning the unavoidable 0845 etc., paying by Mastercard. Today flowers arrived, several wilting, droopy, unacceptable. Came on this website, established there is an 0800 no. for cust. services: rang it, went thru usual automated obstacle-course, got message "for all other enquiries, press 5": person answering said they can't deal with flower-complaints, I must phone 0845 etc. I objected, she was adamant (I understand this, 'cos Tesco Direct (for flowers) is a separate outfit): phoned 0845 etc., they agreed to a replacement bunch, but cannot deliver til Tues. (2 days after Mothering S.): OK: I asked for a refund of the cost of 0845 etc. call: "Sorry, no can do": "May I speak with yr manager?": "No": "May I speak with yr manager?": she goes away, comes back: "manager says we cannot give a refund for yr call - it's only a local rate call"; "no it is not, it's costing me, and will soon cost Tesco Direct, 9p per minute": manager comes on the phone "we cannot give refund, it's only a local rate call": I explained saynoto0870, etc. and finally got her to agree to refund. It's only £1, but it's the principle that matters.

I call the 0845 number all the time, I am not too bothered because I always get a £20 refund on my shop as there is items missing or damaged ;-)

I just called the general Tesco Stores freephone number 0800 505555 and said that I needed the geographical number for Tesco Groceries 0845 7225533. Told them that I can't dial 08 numbers that aren't freephone. Always works that one without further argument or discussion. ;)
The chap said he didn't have the geographical number for Tesco Groceries... but he CAN transfer me to them! = Free call. 8-) Thought I'd let you all know a way around it if they forget to deliver some groceries and you need a refund. |
