ING will only provide an 0870 number for their solicitors.  (0870 835 3339).  When your application for remortgage is beyond offer stage their customer service centre on an 0800 number cannot help until the solicitors update the system so we are forced to call an 0870 number.  Does anyone know of a 0800 or geographical number for their solicitors (who I understand are in a different office than the customer service centre)? Why not say that part of your opereation has been outsourced to another country and it is not possible to call NGN numbers.  BTW, how long do they keep you waiting?  My longest was with the Woolwich - 50 minutes !!!!

They might be outsourced, so the 0870 number might be one provided by another company. Will they not tell you which company it is or their address?

It is possible that the 0870 number is one of many direct numbers.

Enact Conveyancing uses 0870 835 2000 as its main contact number. Also, 0870 835 3302 for sales, so it's getting warmer. Some direct numbers for employees are shown here, and are either side of the 0870 you quote, so I think it's safe to say that it is Enact.

At the end I suggested that seen as:

0870 8352000 => 0113 3842001 (0113 3842000 has redirect message to 0870)

I suggested that 0870 835**** = 0113 384****. I've just tried 0113 3843339 as it's not recognised. Not to worry, as I've identified the company, until we can find the proper 01/02 number, the switchboard should put you through on the number above (0113 3842001).

It appears that 0870 8352***=0113 3842***. So what is the other prefix?  :-/

Some old numbers were 0113 209, but are now not recognised.

I worked out how Enact's 0870 number map to their 0113s. This can be found here. So the direct alternative for the ING Direct remortgaging services is 0113 3841739.

I have added this to the database as a separate entry.  ;)

As we found, 0870 835 3xxx is not 0113 384 3xxx. So I tried numbers below 0113 384 2xxx. If found that they answered with the same automatic answering system as the ones I knew to be Enact's. Some also answered as 'Enact'. I kept trying different 0113 384 1xxx numbers until I found one that gave the extension number. From there, I confirmed that they mapped in consequective order.

For example, if 0113 3841738 answers as extension 3338, then it's reasonable to assume that 0113 384 1638 is ext 3238, 0113 384 1838 is ext 3438 and so on. A few checks confirm this to be the case.

In cases such as these, it is often useful to call the 0870 number [briefly!] so see how it answers (out of hours!). Things like how many rings it answers in so you hang on long enough, and aren't wasting your time by hanging on longer.

The mapping process involved a lot of test calls.  I assume that if you are using a BT line you are on Option 3.   ;)
