Does anyone have the landline number for Legal move? I have asked them and they say that the 0870 6004818 is the only one available.

The Legal Move web site gives them as being a division of Hammonds Direct

I’ve also found 01274 764400 for Hammonds but have not tried it.

Do a Google search on Hammonds Direct – caveat emptor?

That's better. So, as Kiwi_g points out, it's part of Hammonds Direct.

The number Kiwi_g has found, 01274 764400 is listed on 192.com as being for Drydens, a debt management company at Pennine House.

What is the 0870 number, where is it from? What is the address you have for Legal Move? Any other information that may help us.

There's what I presume is a direct number above. Looks similar to the one Kiwi_g found.

The Hammonds Direct brochure can be downloaded in PDF here. It says:

Hi, that's a great piece of detective work! However I'm afraid the number you've found above goes to the IT Department (as you'd expect for a domain registration) rather than a customer-facing part of the business.

As we're not in a customer services role you'll find that using the email address and number given to you in the documentation you receive from Legalmove will get you a much more useful response. If you don't have that to hand the number is 0870 600 4818. The customer services team are very skilled so your call will be a lot shorter than it would be going through IT first!

There isn't a direct equivalent geographic version of this number we could give as an alternative, as we use BT routing of NGN's to get your call to the correctly trained staff who are on shift. As these are in different offices, using a geographic alternative would often get you through to someone who can't help you.

HammondsDirect have a number of offices (Leeds, Manchester, Bradford).

I rang 0161 830 5000, admittedly in the evening, but the security man who was located in Leeds offered to transfer me to any of their offices including Bradford.  0161 830 5000 may be their central switchboard number. For Bradford security also gave a mobile number: 0798 981 6564.

0161 830 5000 would be worth trying during the day.   ::)

Millband,I hope you are not trying to justify the use of 0870 numbers? This company makes a fortune from customers and should not rip them off futher on the phone!
Any fool knows that an automated service can be set up on a geo. number.
There is always an alternative land line number but most (087) companies "bend over backwards" not to reveal them, hence this excellent site!!

I used legal move for my house move last year. You seem to be able to get into the system initially only via the 0870 number. Once you have a dedicated agent get them to phone you on your mobile. This then gives you the direct landline number of your agent which can be used for all future communication.
