Title: Telefocus Ltd - 0800 2585510
Post by vandermerwe on Apr 18th, 2007 at 1:18pm
I'm being phoned several times a day by  08002585510.

It's obviously computer generated as nothing is heard when answering so it just goes to the answering machine where no messasge is left.

Can anyone identify who it might be?

Well, it is an 0800 number so it should be OK to call back free on a landline (I'd use 141 though so they don't get your number) and see what happens.

"Using the buttons on your phone, enter the I.D of the prompt that you wish to rerecord"

And that's it!

But bear in mind that if it does annoy you, ring it back and leave your phone off the cradle.
The message seems to loop, and it costs them per minute for the privilege.

Sorry, should have written it better.
The bit about ID is the prerecorded message you are met with when you return the call.
Who, where and other details of whose number it is are not made obvios when calling it.

Perhaps there is a better response during normal hours.

As a very nice man says, if we all call this number and leave the phone off the hook, they will get a nice bill for it!  ;D

Thanks for the tips.

Appreciate the advice from jgxenite but when trying to use 141 I'm told I can't use it on this system (BT).

Maybe I should ask a friend to call it.

I had great fun last night changing a number of their prompts (whatever they are).

You have to enter a 5-digit number to identify the one you want to change but they allow multiple attempts (and an 'enter a new prompt' option).

I like the idea of ringing up and holding - perhaps they will stop ringing people once they realise they are running up a huge bill doing it :).

Hi,

I got a call from that number today and wondered who it was, hence my visit and registration to this site.  When I answered someone actually spoke to me though.  The just asked if they could speak to a certain person who is actually my ex.  I said that it wasn't his number and they said ok sorry to bother you and hung up.  So I never got chance to ask any questions which left me wondering who they where, how they'd got my number and why they was ringing me for him.  Any how, I did the same and tried to call back and got that same ID message, don't have a clue what it means.  If they ring again i will just ask if I can take a message and I might get to find out who it is then and I can start to ask more questions.  Thought it might help for you to know it isn't just an answer phone and computer thing.

I called the number earlier on and got the voice asking for a menu option which eventually went to a continuous loop asking for "customer number".

I've just called it now and got a different recording which identifies itself as Telefocus Limited. They are a telemarketing/research provider. The message ends by informing the caller that they can call 0800 2585619 to speak to an operator if they require more information the reason for the call or to notify that you don't want to receive any more calls.

Thank you all you helpful ones out there. It was kind of KT to post her result from trying the number, and for Dave to try and get to the bottom of it.

Being of a suspicious mind I visited Telefocus on-line and it all looks oh so kosher, but in the middle of their 'services' is listed 'debt collection'.

Now I wonder. Funny that a 'telemarketing' marketing company should be so persistent and never leave a message to call back about an offer I couldn't possible refuse.
