Title: O2 to stop including NGN Calls in incl minutes Post by moneysavin on Apr 19th, 2007 at 12:28am
Looks like O2 are going to stop including NGN in inclusive minutes from the 1/5/2007 for new contract customers.Bang goes the cheap intl call loophole for some. :(

Just to clarify, it seems that this is only for O2 "online" customers. I'm a retail customer (bought mine through the shop originally, upgraded only recently but still with these discounts) and I hope that they will keep the 080/084/0870 discounts as I find this extremely useful. Otherwise I shall have to start using geographic alternatives more often...

If you read the thread i linked to your see the op comes back and says it applies to shop(retail) as well as online ,and if you follow the links to other sites your see that other people confirm this. ;)
Your also note that i mention in my op that it only applies to new contracts frpm 1/5/2007 so it want effect you being an existing customer. :) |

Ah, sorry. Clearly didn't read the post as well as I should have :-[.
Presumably this means when I renew my contract in a year and a bit, I'll lose this brilliant feature... >:( |

That was the only thing I found useful in my O2 contract. I REALLY noticed it when I moved to T-Mobile (had to make lots of calls to UPS customer support when they lost some packages being delivered, on 0870 - £17 extra on top of my bill!) and I couldn't find a geographical alternative on this site.
That was the only good thing about O2 in my opinion, their customer service was abysmal for the entire 12 months of my contract and they didn't even make the slightest attempt to retain me even though I'd signed up, purchased their flagship handset and was paying a fair amount per month - every month, on time, never any problems from me. I'm more than happy now paying less to T-Mobile monthly and getting unlimited 3G AND a gorgeous handset for less than what I paid for my O2 handset too... Hah. Why do I suspect that O2 will be trying to keep this tariff change quiet! |

Not so, see: http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/specialnumbers But they are now charging new customers from tomorrow. |

Oh sure, they're probably obliged under UK law to have to disclose this, but it's still a bit naughty that they've not disclosed this in the form of a newsletter to their existing customers or suchlike.
Unless of course they have, but as I'm not a present O2 customer I wouldn't get sent emails from them regarding service changes. But I'd put money on it they've not publicised this change to tariffs as well as customers would expect, and some people are going to be hit with nasty phone bills next month. My O2 Online username is still active though, and there's certainly nothing on the front page about this (which is where I'd expect an announcement like this to be made). |

Unless it has turned up with one of my latest bills, I have had no information about this change until I saw it on this forum. Thankfully, I've still got a while left on my contract but I shall not be best pleased when I come to upgrade and have this wonderful feature removed... >:(
