Title: TalkTalk tariff and 0844 numbers Post by rogcal on May 30th, 2007 at 12:20pm
Since my GP changed to an 0844 number and TalkTalk charge me 10ppm for 0844 numbers, I insisted they give me the "new" geographic number they set up to allow their staff, hospitals, etc to ring in.
At first they resisted but when I took in a print out showing that TalkTalk do charge me 10ppm on their Talk3 tariff which was more than the 5ppm the surgery claimed in their literature, they relented and I now have the geo number. I still think it's outrageous that doctors are ripping their patients off in this way but the bulk of patients at most surgeries are to frightened to say anything out of fear of upsetting the "nice doctors". Still, I'm getting my free calls to the geo number (via Talk3), so bugger the sheep who blindly follow each other down the road to spending more money and lining the pockets of the greedy. |

The price your doctor's quotes (and any other 'service provider' for that matter) is from a BT landline. Thus, call rates may vary between telephone providers.
Calls to 0844 numbers cost the same on a Talk Talk package as they do with BT, so your phone call to your doctor's 0844 number will cost 5p/min at all times with Talk Talk. If it has cost more, then that is not your doctor's fault and you should contact Talk Talk. Please supply use with the 01/02 number (and 0844 number) for your surgery, along with its name. |

Well done Rogcal. You have obtained a surgery number where many others have not succeeded.
Will you now offer this number to this website? Maybe we can begin to build up a directory section of Doctor's numbers. |

Bit of a dilemma here. Surely, with NEG Surgery Line being the nasty bunch they are, won't they immediately change the number? Has anyone ever seen the contract that they get doctors to sign? I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a clause that prohibits the surgery staff from revealing the geographic number, probably at the pain of some financial penalty. So if it is published in an open forum such as this, won't we defeat the object? Isn't there a better way to keep this silent, but still allow interested parties to get access, maybe via IM or email and frustrate the nasties of Surgery Line? |

I agree mikeinnc. I think that the best way would be to include it in the database and avoid posting it or any other info on here. I have sent rogcal and email asking for the details of this surgery. |
