The issue of 0870 telephone numbers will be featured on today's Jeremy Vine Show on Radio 2. Martin Lewis will be on the show which is on between 12:00 and 14:00.

You can listen again:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/vine/ and select Listen Again on the right hand side (obviously, select Friday).

Skip ahead to just after the 1pm news (halfway through the program, approx 01:09:00)...

Thanks for the link tiiiim.

I have just listened. An accurate (for a change) piece by Martin Lewis.

No mention of 0844 which cost more than 0870 in the evening and at weekends (usually 5p/min at all times).

I agree it was accurate however I felt that when the communications provider or organisation that is on the side of companies (can't remember name now) said the use of 0870 was for network features, I'd have hoped that Martin could have mentioned that all these features are available on 0845 which in most cases may not have revenue sharing available on it unlike 0870 (and 0871) where the main use of such numbers has to be the revenue share.

Nothing, I noticed, was mentioned about 0844 and 0845 !

Although he did mention that any services received (in kind) would have otherwise had to have been paid for. There was a lady who worked from home that opted for 0845, and he told her that come the changes, 0845 will be more expensive than 0870!

The guy was from the Federation of Communication Services (http://www.fcs.org.uk/).

Thanks jgxenite.

At least 0871 was mentioned unlike nearly all (if not all) other articles on these numbers that generally only mention 0870.

Still some news coverage is better than none.
