I have been trying to add a geo alternative no for the 0845 used by ECC West Area Highways but have had problems doing this. The NGN is 0845 6037621 (they give this number when acknowledging emails/letters as the no to contact if the matter is urgent!) In fact, the geo no is 01279 642500 and works perfectly well (notwithstanding the fact that they are a pretty useless bunch who frequently don't answer any phone on any number!) as I have used it regularly. Please could the geo number be added to the database. Thanks.

There's already a number for the 0845 after the one you quote (ends 7622). This is also highways and is down as "Braintree, Chelmsford, Maldon". Is this East Highways then?

Can you suggest any changes that might make it clearer such as adding town/city names to the West one?

This is the number on which they invite callers to report problems and repairs needed.

When I was given it by Colchester Council they said there was no geographical number.

I suspect that all numbers have to have a geographical alternative, am I right, please?

01245 240000 is the alternative in the database for a very similar Highways 0845 number (0845 603 7622) - for Highways dep't 24/7 (Braintree, Chelmsford, Maldon)

01279 642500 (alternative for 0845 603 7621) - for West Area Highways
