Reggie.
I too have a Zonealarm Firewall and that was no problem to the CBFSMS website. However, the Pop-up Blocker from Google temporarily stopped their pop-ups, but you can temporarily allow that site for the duration of the use of the services. You have a couple of tick boxes that you MUST fill in to be able to send, but they're only a minor irritation. Very useful if you have a friend that doesn't have a TEXT facility on their phone & they want to get hold of you from overseas. NO additional charges & a bit more immediate than an email. |

Thanks Dave
I succeeded in sending a text to my own mobile and felt very chuffed. Then I tried to send one to my daughter who is travelling in Europe with a UK mobile and got the following error message after sending Dear Internet User, You are receiving this error page due to a problem with the configuration of the advertisement javascript or html coding. This error is isolated to a specific site or site subsection. We apologize for any inconvience caused. Do you know what this means? I am assuming that the message wasn't sent! |

Now did you notice that there was a tick box that would advise you the message had been sent ??
I'm assuming that you did leave the box ticked so you'd have got confirmation it had been sent ?? The advantage of them switching adverts each time is that if you'd sent it again, there would have been a different set of html & code so you would probably have sent it OK then. Try it again if that happens. |

As long as you register or are registered with BT.com you qualify. See https://www2.bt.com/smsbeta/
"BT's Web2SMS service is a Beta service that allows you to send up to 50 text messages per month from a web page." |

Have you actually used this. I am registered with BT and can view my bill online however when I try to log on on this page nothing happens. When I try to register again it says my user name is already registered . I am not getting anywhere. Any ideas?

Not as far as I am aware.
I've used it a few times now to my OH's phone & as it's on the same phone bill as mine, I think I would have noticed any charges. ::) |

In all the years I've tried this site I'm lucky if more than 2% ever get through, it's just so unreliable. |
Title: Re: Free text messages from pc Post by DaveM on Jul 23rd, 2007 at 10:04pm
Since my first attempt (see above), I have used it six times more with 100% success so I suggest that people try it for themselves and see what happens. Don't just take our word for it; suck it and see.
It seems to do just what it sez on the tin !! ::) |
