I'm trying to get in touch with Definite Software Ltd who also trade as UKLinux. They are our ISP, we register our internet domain names through them and they host our web sites.

I have been trying since April to get them to send me VAT invoices for payments we've made. Their website is www.uklinux.net. I've tried emailing them direct and from their website and calling the 0870 7406575 number given on the website, but no joy. I'd like to be able to call them repeatedly using my free geographical calls rather than spending a fortune.

I do have an invoice from them about a year ago. Thier address then was

I can't find an address at all on the website, so don't know if they've moved since then. Their VAT number then was 748 3036 26 if that helps.

I've looked for both names on yell.com and on BT directory enquiries website but can't find them.

I also looked them up at Companies House. The only Definite Software Ltd is in London and the category doesn't seem to tie up with what they actually do, so may not be them. There is a UKLinux registered at another address in Stockport, so that could be them. Their details are

According to 192.com, they are also trading as Cheep Linux Ltd from the same address and 0870 number.

However, it seems that Definite Software / uklinux are a bit of a scam - see this site http://www.redwatch.org.uk/noncewatch/noncelovers.html.

According to this article, the servers and stuff for uklinux are provided by Digital Networks (dnuk.com) of Manchester. Whether it is worth trying to go via them, I don't know.

Call HMRC, they can trace them from the VAT number.  Also if they are registered for VAT they are obliged by law to issue VAT invoices.
