Please note the geograpical no. given when searching for Community Legal Advice is wrong (0114 252 6410 and the fax no. 0114 252 6458) and goes through to a company in Sheffield - need to ring the 0800 no. shown on the search :-[

Ouch, bit threatening that one ;)

In fairness, when you get through the recorded system says they will call you back if you ask the operator you speak to.

Problem is, if you are in a queue, you could already have ran up a bill at this point.

Just decided to check them out, NO alternative provided, just the 0845 number. Now what does surprise me is.. IF they are not getting any revenue share from this prefix WHY have it?

They have alternative contact options, but NO e-mail address as far as I can see.

It just baffles me why have that sort of number. Surely a Mnemonic number can be obtained with 03 or even 01/02 if the number is THAT important to them.

Payment of revenue share is merely an outcome of selection of the number. It's a discount on the cost of telephone services and the charge comes from the caller (via their telephone provider) to the organisation's 0845 number provider regardless.

Would anyone buy a car solely in order to obtain (benefit from) a discount on the "windscreen" price? Of course not. The difference being that in the case of the 0845, payment for the service comes from another party; the caller.

Thanks for that. I've added it to the database as the alternative to 0845 345 4345.

An unverified entry gives 0161 819 4513, citing it was the number they called back from when requested to via the call back page on the database.


Community Legal Advice is a part of Legal Services Commission which has an entry of its own giving 0845 602 1400. This number redirects to 0300 200 2020 which is a new number for them:

I have therefore listed this as an alternative to 0845 602 1400, as is 0161 233 3000 which is answered in the same way.
