Check the back of the credit card.  Is there no "international" number given for calling from abroad?

I have a NatWest credit card and for contact both an 0870 number and a geographical number are given on the back.

The following is given by LloydsTSB for replacement cards, but the geog. number is worth trying:

please call Card Services on 0870 010 6622 (+44 1702 278 272 if overseas) 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Dial: 141 01702 278 272

(the 141 prefix is to hide the number you are calling from)

Fraud is an area where banks have a keen interest since in most cases they have to bear the consequences. Telephone call charges are insignificant in comparison to the losses they may suffer and credit card users may well be abroad.  This is reason why they give out  "international" numbers.

There are lots of numbers in the database for LloydsTSB. If I were you I would try one of the 0800 numbers from which you can be transferred to customer services.

Note that the debit and credit card fraud numbers only differ in their last digit:

debit card fraud 01702 278 274
credit card fraud 01702 278 272

If necessary, tell them that you are calling from abroad.
