Title: pennyphone.com
Post by rob_del_terror on Aug 17th, 2007 at 11:52am
i work at an o2 store, in september 2007 all non-geographical numbers are being removed from inclusive allowances, this changed for new customers around april but as of september all existing customers will loose this aswell.
my girlfriend is from poland and regularly rings via an 0844 number, loosing this from her minutes will result in her spending vast amounts of money @ 20p per minute.
Does anyone know of alternatives????

If you mean an international call through number, then no, we will not find or give away any geographic alternatives for these numbers as they are a genuine use of a non-geographic revenue number. If you cannot call non-geographic numbers free from your mobile, you will have to use one of the pre-pay services that then provide you with a geographic number to call through.

In this situation it would be best to make the calls from a landline. Cost to Poland is ˝p/min. See the following website for the various 0844 access numbers:

Yes, I'd noticed that (in text message form atleast...) :( - now I have a valid reason for using geographic alternatives. Keep up the good work all saynoto0870ers.

Title: Get out of your O2 Contact.

As O2 breach their T&C by charging to call ngn, they are apparently allowing customers who have regularly used these numbers in the past six months to disconnect without charge.

i use http://www.noodle.co.uk/ for free international calls on orange. You may have heard that orange banned 07744 numbers, well there is no 07822 numbers. You get your own 07822 number to dial before your international number.

I use voipcheap.com (NOT .uk) for my normal calls via a voip telephone adapter on my house phone.

However they also offer an 0161 number as a dial-through from mobiles, which should be fine on 02 or anywhere (I got the text about change, too - going up to 20p/min).   Poland (landlines), for the OP, is less than 1p/min.

They also offer a web form for you to put your number & destination number in, and they call you both & connect you - handy if you are not home, or don't have any voip equipment, but they'll charge you both legs of  the call I think.

Oh, and if you actually use voip to connect, UK, Poland, USA and lots of other places are free calls.

@ the Noodle number - O2 charge 40 pence a minute for these calls at the moment

@ irrelevant + rob - there are several other Betamax VoIP brands, mostly also 1c + vat a minute via the callthrough access option, though DialNow is half that. To Polish mobiles, DialNow is 4c, JustVoip 5c, +vat, though the new brand Nonoh is improbably 2c + vat  at the moment and surely can't last at that rate

@ rob - also consider using a T-mobile payg SIM with callthrough access of Yourcallworld - 3 pence a minute, or various other payg offers at from 5p/min, or  callback from ReturnCall or sms callback from some Betamax brands - JustVoip the cheapest - and the trigger sms will come from those included on the O2 contract

lol. "several" is almost an understatement .. I just use voipcheap.com because it was the best for my call paterns.  I'm sure you have this one, but for the OP, http://backsla.sh/betamax has a comparason of twenty-one of their brands....

It's usually a good idea to read the OP, which is about 0844 numbers very soon being no longer inclusive minutes on an O2 contract
