Title: Bristol City FC Ticket Hotline
Post by flashbandicoot on Aug 20th, 2007 at 1:43pm
Hi everyone,

Bristol City FC (my beloved football club) have recently introduced a new ticket hotline

I and many fans feel this is one rip off too far.

On top of the escalating ticket prices since our glorious promotion last season (a 46% hike in some cases), the 5% fee for using a credit or debit card we are now asked to pay 10p a minute to wait in a queue for upto 30 minutes.

Please could someone try and find an alternative number, you'd make lots and lots of people feel a little less fleeced by the greedy money men at our club

The number is ... 0871 222 6666

Thanks for any help anyone can offer

Website: www.bcfc.co.uk

Calls to 0871 222 numbers cost 10p/min at all times from a BT landline. This is the maximum price that 0871s can be (although remember mobiles usually cost more and other landline providers may charge more, although generally they are the same as BT).

Judging by the contact page, I gather that the 0871 number is for all enquiries.

Someone has recently submitted 0117 9630 630 for BCFC, although they have put that it's no good for the box office.

Not sure whether we need to know, but the prefix 0871 222 is allocated to Opal Telecom. Within the Bristol prefix (0117) there are two prefixes allocated to Opal and they are:
  • 0117 329 (change date 05/2005)
  • 0117 343 (change date 06/2006).

What is the 'old' number?

Cheers Dave, thanks for the reply

In answer to your question, the number up until a few weeks ago was also non-geographical but from memory was charged at 4p/min (???).  This number was in use for many years. Is this the number you require? If so it's ... 0870 112 1897

Prior to that it was a direct dial Bristol geographical number, but as I've said that was many years back. If you require this I'll have a search through old football programmes etc. Let me know if you need that.

Thanks again for your help.

Going by the numbers available, I suspect that they have direct numbers in the form of 0117 96306xx and 7xx.

Both 0117 963 0600 and 0117 963 0630 have a recording redirecting to the 0871. BT Directory Enquiries also lists a number for the club shop: 0117 963 0637. I've just called it and it went to voicemail after 20 seconds saying that "mailbox 637" is full and cannot accept any more messages.

If we are lucky, then they may have put the menu on one of the 0117 96306xx/7xx numbers and directed the 0871 to it. I called the 0871 (briefly !!!) and it answers immediately (no rings) with a recording. It takes about 20 seconds before it gets to the menu.

I have found direct numbers for some staff, including Jane Maggs who the website identifies as being the manager of the ticket office. Her number is 0117 9630607

This shows that this range of numbers are still used by the club, so maybe the 0871 just routes to one of them.

May I suggest you write/email senior management at the club and express your dislike of the 0871 number. Email addresses are of the form: firstname.lastname@bcfc.co.uk
