<< Teletext Holidays is to change all advertiser 0870 numbers on its digital TV service and online from November 15, in order to comply with the change in Ofcom regulations which come into effect next January. All 0870 numbers will be replaced with new 0845 codes, which will be issued to advertisers within the next few weeks. Advertisers currently using 0800 or 0808 numbers will not have to make changes. Any advertisers wishing to take a freephone number from now one will need a new 0808 number. By Lisa James >> |

And yet good old Ofcom thought everyone would just remain on 0870 with no revenue share. The only thing we have to be grateful for is that teletext have decided to take a revenue share cut by moving to 0845 rather than taking advantage of the massive price hike that Ofcom and ICSTIS have now left the door open to on 0871. Or perhaps in view of the many negative consumer responses to ICSTIS's 0871 proposals teletext have now heard something about changes in those proposed ICSTIS rules for 0871 that they don't like the sound of. :-/ Perhaps a limitation on call queuing after all for instance. ;) |
