Thanks Very much for you help.

Yes I am aware of this number, but when i phoned it they told me that they not help me with  my application, only send one out to me, and that i would have to call 0845 456 0027. I asked therefore to be put through to them. I was told I had to phone the number, I therefore asked for the address of offices i was calling. I was told the following:

Adult Learning Grant
PO box 900
Leisceter LE1 6ER

Tel: 0800 100 900

---------------------------------------------

The 08 number has the following address:

Adult Learning Grant
PO Box 4244
Manchester
M60 3AN

Tel: 0845 456 0027 and 0845 456 0028

--------------------------------------------------

If any one can make any sense out of this, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

Hmm.... Learndirect have a M60 3LE postcode with a phone number of 0800 101 901 (and a Leeds fax number).   I wonder if there is a connection?

Hmm.. further googling for Adult Learning Grant in M60..

Adult Learning Grant Team
Department for Education and Skills
PO Box 4121
Manchester
M60 3UP
Tel: 0845 456 0027
Fax: 0161 234 7131
alg@manchester.gov.uk

same phone number, although different PO Box.  but at least there is a local fax number now..

Now, most of Manchester City Council are on 234 7xxx, with switchboard on 0161 234 5000.  I've not fond you a DDI for the team yet, but you might be able to get switchboard to put you through - ask them for the extension number first, and report it back :-)

Title: Wrong number input on system
Post by maistre7 on Apr 15th, 2008 at 7:55am
Hello all

I am trying to contact ALG so i tried 0800 100 900 which is advertised on their website (direct gov) anyway, but as i had a query regarding payment they referred me to the following number which strangley engouh you advertise as being part of Mancheser city council and also ALG which is for numbers 0845 456 0027 or  0845 456 0028 .

So to summarise The 0800 100 900 number that you advertise as being an alternative is not actually the case.
