Title: 0871 & 0844
Post by Bob5 on Oct 12th, 2007 at 12:08pm
Hi

I have always used the site to save money by avoiding calling 0870 numbers.

It's a little confusing now that 0870 rules have changed, should I still avoid calling these numbers?

What's the situation with 0844 & 0871 numbers? 0871 seems to be now called a premium number, but isn't that the same as an 09 number?

Some 0870 numbers seem to have changed to 0844. What's the situation with this? It seems to have got more confusing than it was before!  :-/

The "rules" are due to change on 1 Feb 2008. Don't be surprised if this date gets put back.

Links to information about other 08 numbers can be found on Useful Information & Say no to 0870! Hot Topics page.

0844 (and 0871) have always existed (since 1999) and now that companies can no longer receive revenue and are likely to have to pay for incoming calls on 0870, some are moving to these prefixes.
