Title: Continued use of NGN by Government Dept.
Post by Maxadolf on Nov 16th, 2007 at 12:57pm
Have you guys noticed the Winter Fuel Helpline in the national press directed at pensioners with a helpline contact on 0845 015 1515?  The Government's one-saving grace is that they come clean on the 6p connection charge and 4p/min call rate.  But why do they target pensioners with this scam?

..and so are all government help lines, like 'flood lines' and every other line that you have to ring, which is why I don't hold out much hope that the government will do anything about the doctor's surgeries. :(

Actually from 1 August 2007 daytime call charges from BT landlines to 0845 numbers have been reduced to 2p/min (plus the 6p call setup fee of course)

To Lompos:

The 4p/min rate and 6p connection charge, according to the Government Department's advertisment in Wednesday's Daily Telegraph, referred specifically to  BT landlines.  Perhaps the government department (www.direct.gov.uk/keepwarmkeepwell) concerned needs to be advised accordingly.
