Title: Question
Post by StephenK on Nov 23rd, 2007 at 1:08pm
I only have one question, Why are you against free phone numbers, I mean it hurts the company, not you in anyway, So why would anyone want to find an alternative for an 080 number. Don't say mobile users, because who would call a freephone from a mobile when its obviously chargeable.

I quote this from your home page

Quote:
Alternatives listed for 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 numbers.

I understand the others but why 0800 and 0808

The only reason we are against 080x numbers is because they are chargeable from a mobile, but in that case, we are not campaigning against the company, but against the mobile phone providers for ripping off mobile users.

Also, as you note, it doesn't cost us to call the company on their 080x number, but it costs them. Therefore, if they are willing to provide an alternative number to their 080x number, we can save them some money and they might be less willing to rip us off in the future (though I'm not holding my breath...)

I do not believe we are "against" freephone numbers. The issue with them is that they cost from a mobile, usually at a higher rate than geographicals. That is because the mobile providers can get away with it.

The purpose of alternatives to freephone numbers is therefore to allow calls to be made at landline rates from mobiles.
