Hey everyone

if you need to call this brand and don't want to call the 0845 number they provide you can call 0161 910 94XX (replace the XX with a number below)

00 - Main reception (hardly anyone on the desk and diverts to customer services)
19 - Customer services
45 - Petrol Filling station
49 - Pharmacy/Fagrance department
64 - Management team
65 - Duty Manager 1
66 - Duty Manager 2
67 - Duty Manager 3/Staff sick line

There are other numbers but they are specific for a department, they do not take customer calls, and they will tell you to call back to main receiption.

I am staff so know all the extention numbers.

Thanks Stephen. I've checked those & will amend the database accordingly.

I assume, looking at other entries, that the extension allocation at other branches will be the same ??  :-/

If that's so, I can add a separate entry that JUST shows the extensions & their destinations.

I also have Ext 32 for Home Shopping to put on the list.

They sometimes answer extention 32 but there is hardly ever anyone on deparment

extention 19 is home and wear, however they do not take kindly to phone calls

Dave, that is correct, it works at most branches.

TIP: If you are in branch, and need to speak to another branch, staff can dial out from customer services using the internal phone number, on your behalf, This includes clubcard helpline, head office (except personal finance)

EDIT: If you need any geo numbers for branches let me know, Ill dial them on the internal system and ask for their geo number :)

Invaluable assistance Steven :). I don't suppose you could find out (or confirm) the numbers for Sheffield West Street and Sheffield Infirmary Road. Also, there is a new Tesco that has just opened on Corporation Street (also in Sheffield), but I'm not sure if they have a phone line set up - if you could find that number too, that would be most appreciated :).

Sure but I need the store ID, as its easier to find a store by its store ID than a geo location. If you dont have them, don't worry :)

To find them look on an old till receipt, right at the bottom there will be a line like

25/11/07 10:08 3041 3015 0532

I need the highlighted number, if you got them, else I will look them up in the store finder we have and get them for you

Sheffield West Street: 3354
Sheffield Infirmary Road: 5106
Sheffield Corporation Street: 5500

Two of those numbers are in the database.

Corporation Street hasn't been supplied yet so you'll have to wait a while till it's available from Head Office.

DaveM, I wasn't sure if the ones in the database had been fully confirmed. I'm guessing Corporation Street hasn't got one (the receipts don't have a NGN on them yet).

Another employee, just to point out that the extension numbers above are only going to be valid for Extra stores  ;) - Smaller stores (Metros etc) tend to have extensions in numberical order, although this isn't fixed either.

Telephones in branch depends on store also- We've been banned from making any outgoing calls full-stop apart from the admin phones upstairs, & its defintely the same type of policy at Blue Boar as well.

Thats not true, We have only just been rebranded as an extra store and these numbers have been in operation since the store opened 10 years ago, I know metro/express/regular/home stores that use this system, Tesco employ a system where as I can call any branch and extention number is the same, either through "7 <store number> <department extention>" or through their geo number, Cirronix (SP) own the number blocks (geo and none geo) and equipment Tesco use.

try using the 9 prefix for an outgoing call, to be honest why would you want to make an outgoing call on the shop floor?

Regarding Corporation street branch, I have "Hosted" them requesting a geo number

Stephen, nice one. Would you be able to check the Infirmary Road number in Sheffield? I know we already have a geo in the database, but it doesn't match the format of the rest of the numbers (0114 2033400 verses 0114 260xxxx for the other numbers). Cheers :).

Basically it is like a forum, I put a message, aimed at the store, they reply, but the system is called host

Ah, fair enough. So you'll basically request their geo number, and they'll send it you back.

Wow, I'm amazed that even the store doesn't know their geographic number! Clearly shows how much Tesco likes the money it gets from those calls...  :o

It therefore probably depends on the store type and age and other things when the system got installed? I believe we're over 20 years old, but thats what I've seen with those around Norwich.

Outgoing calls got banned as part of loss reduction measures if I remember right; They're only supposed to be done with the authorisation of a manager among other things.

Nope all the telephone systems are the same, so all follow same convention.

Outgoing calls you can make them through another branch via the 7 method and use a particular extention (No not going to discuss it) but it seems someone abused the system big style,

I know of a shop worker calling Greece from an internal phone and external calls are still permitted and nothing happened to this worker.

This is probably the first Tesco store in the country (well, of the recently opened ones that I know of) that gives out a geographic number on the official Tesco site!

Sorry but If memory serves me well, there is already one in the Tesco listing that shows ONLY a Geo number.  :-/

Actually, after I searched their store locator for stores near Sheffield, it turns out a few of their "Extra" stores have geographic numbers in favour of 0845 numbers.
