Title: Orange Broadband Technical Support Post by nick1 on Nov 27th, 2007 at 6:42pm
Hi,
I've been told by Orange that i can only dial their 09050505151 number for the help I need with my broadband. It's 50p a minute and i spent £32 worth of unfruitful time on it yesterday!! I need to phone them again but there isn't an alternative in the database so wondered if anyone had any ideas???? Many thanks nick1 |

Nick
Do what I did. Email them at customer-service@uk.orange.com and keep insisting that you want a call back. Eventually it will work. I think that the secret is to answer every Email they address to you until you get your call back. I have had my first call back which lasted for 45 minutes during which time they established there was indeed a problem, WOW! They promised me a further call today bu, nothing! My Emails now start again but only until the time my contract expires. Terry |

I looked around and this number is shown as the Broadband Starter Helpline number (India). Although suggested by someone as an alternative, 0870 010 2462 is shown as the Broadband Plus and Max Helpline (UK).
0870 010 2462 shown in various places as Customer support or Customer services (Broadband Access Service, Member Services and Payment Handling Services) so it may give only Startup support. (was previously for Wanadoo support) 0870 190 0667 shows specifically as Broadband Plus and Max support so be prepared for referal back to the 0905. 0870 220 2002 comes up as Wanadoo Wireless & Talk Customer Support, but it's another number to try. Please note that NONE of these has been tested so we'd appreciate some feedback as to whether they work or not. At least you save over 40p or so per minute, and as they're 24/7, even more than that evenings & weekends. If any are not 24/7, please let us know as well. Now I don't know if you're having Startup Problems or not, but there is an 0800 for that specific support ONLY. Let me know & I will post that as well. 8-) Also see the Orange Broadband Problems support website. |

That is a BT problem but Orange support will go thru a check of all your bits first.
What you need to do is as follows: 1. Remove ALL other connections, extensions & adapters; Do you have the Dial tone when you connect the phone into the Master Line socket ? If NO, there is a BT LINE PROBLEM If YES 2. Plug one of your Line Filters into the Master Line socket and the phone into that; Do you now have the Dial tone ? If NO, there is a problem with the Line Filter; Swap filters and repeat step 2 If YES, you've fixed the fault; Remember, ALL Telephone equipment plugged into the Master Line socket and Extensions MUST BE ISOLATED using Line Filters otherwise you will introduce NOISE onto the Broadband signal. 8-) |

Hi
This is a real bizzare problem. When she is using her normal telephone to telephone other people there is a dial tone. She had Broadband before with Tiscali. Anyway Orange phoned & said their was a fault with the line...? What fault can this be? |

Although carried on the same pair of wires, telephony and broadband are entirely separate and it is not unusual for one to work and the other not.
However, if she's just changed broadband provider, it's likely to be something the new provider did (wrong) or didn't do when they took over. |

This might sound stupid but .... has she checked that the cable is plugged into the correct socket in the back of the pc? I helped my friend to connect to the internet once and stupidly used the wrong one :-[- caused the line to be dead when the pc was plugged in but work ok when it wasn't of course. I'm sure this isn't what happened to your friend but just thought I would mention it in case.

I have just been told by "Mark" a very helpful man at Orange as I was having issues with my wireless & talk package that Orange contract customers can now ring 550 off their mobile FOC for Broadband Tech support.

I recently signed up to Orange Broadband Starter and suffered a similar problem as described above.
I found that the software loaded for the speedtouch 330 would not pick up the modem being connected hence the no dial tone problem. The strange thing is it works on my laptop and I am able to connect on the pc through another modem so I can only presume it is a software fault on certain operating systems? |
