I rang Alliance & Leicester Bootle with a query on a payment to a German companies Bank. Was advised to ring 0870 3333228 A & L International Banking division. Its bad enough paying the extra transaction charge without having an 0870 surcharge. Is there an alternative for this one?

Had another look on Google and found my question as No 3, first page. Pretty impressive to say it was posted less than 24hrs ago. However looked at No 2 first page, which refers to A & L small business banking with 0800 015 4116 number. I shall try this Monday and report back.
