Title: BT call charges Post by reggie on Feb 3rd, 2008 at 9:39pm
I have BT option 1 and use 18185 for most of my calls. However my partner is somewhat forgetful and often fails to do so. I have just been looking at my bill online and was surprised to discover that the minimum charge for UK landline calls now seems to be 8p don't know whether this is before or after VAT. I had thought that it was about 3p per min with a minimum charge of 5p but am obviously behind the times as a 16 sec call came up as 8p. I can't seem to find the list of charges for BT and I know I have seen the link somewhere on this site. I'd be grateful if you could let me have it again. Thanks

For those who are on BT Together Option 1 (now re-named 'the Unlimited Weekend Plan') and who use BT to make the call, a peak (6am to 6pm Mon-Frid) call to any 01, 02 or 03 number currently costs 6p 'call set-up fee' + 3¼p per minute - charged on a per minute basis. Hence, the minimum call cost will be 9¼p incl. VAT. However, from 1st April 2008, the cost will be 6p 'call set-up fee' + 4p per minute - charged on a per minute basis. Hence, the minimum call cost will be 10p incl. VAT. |

I use 18866 during weekdays, which charges 5p per call, 0p per minute. I am happy with that as it usually costs me around £2 - £3 per month. Evenings and weekends I use Tiscali Evening and weekends free. My friend, who has just changed to Tiscali, has gone onto Tiscali anytime free (pays £5 per month extra for this). I don't think I shall change as my 18866 bill is usually less than £5 per month.

Don't forget that sister company 18185 is cheaper for weekday calls to UK mobiles (6p/minute as opposed to 18866's 12p/minute).

Yes, the voice and broadband options are entirely separate. |
