Free pensions advice service for women launched

Local rate line will run for two months

A pensions advice service has launched a helpline specially for women.

The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) has set up an advice line to help women understand how they are affected by pension legislation, and to tell them about any action they might need to take.

TPAS will offer the free service - offered through a local-rate 0845 number - throughout February and March.
Career break

The helpline is aimed at women of all ages and in different circumstances, from those just starting out in employment or taking a career break to bring up a family, to women in mid-career, or those approaching retirement.

TPAS, an independent body supported by the government, first ran the helpline three years ago, when 8,000 women rang in and staff sent out more than 60,000 copies of a booklet about women's pension rights and options.

There's also advice on the TPAS site, from where you can download a booklet called Women and Pensions.

The page on Which? has now been amended. The lies on TPAS remain.
