Title: Habitat Post by BenDToy on Feb 18th, 2008 at 2:02pm
I needed to contact the Manchester Habitat store, but when I looked up their web site I noticed that the only numbers listed for Habitat stores all begin with 0844, and their customer services number is 0870. The option given on this site directs you to the 0844 number, so I had little choice. I rang them and they were quite happy to call me back. When they did so I noted down the number from my caller ID and I have called them to confirm that this is the correct number. For reference it is 0161 835 9588. I will add this to the database.

I have now verified that entry. There is also another number for this branch which is currently unverified: 0161 8353612

The number 0161 835 3612 is the one which directs you to the 0844 one.

Thanks for that. I have now removed most that and other entries which now have a network message giving the 0844 number for that branch. Quite a few of these were verified, so Habitat has obviously gone out of its way to change the geographical numbers for the sake of the revenue. :-X |

I have now entered into a "constructive debate" with a guy at Habitat. I accused them of shameful exploitation of their customers and he included the following in his response " I would like to confirm for you that habitat would not employ such tactics and that our 08444 numbers are charged at local rate only".
I have swamped him with some evidence to the contrary, and await his reply. Any suggestions as to the best way to make use of the BT move announced today? |

Surprise, surprise, 0844 499 numbers are charged at g6 rate (the highest) - 5p/minute at all times (which is 54% higher than BT's current 3¼p/minute peak weekday 01/02/03 rate and which will still be 20% higher than BT's peak weekday 01/02/03 rate after the 1-4-08 increase). Hardly "local rate only". |

More useful information. Their home delivery service uses a call centre with the number 08444 991120. The geo number for this is 01491 838300. I will add this to the database.

A Google reveals this to be "TNT Delivery Direct". The customer services for Habitat are elsewhere. So this is for mail order delivery enquiries then? |

I guess it may well be a TNT call centre because it is a home delivery matter I am dealing with. However the 0844 number is in the Habitat range for all the store numbers, so this is certainly a unique number to Habitat. I have used the geo number this morning, and they confirmed that this is also a dedicated Habitat number, but they are a "delivery agent" for them.

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM. If this is a request for help finding an alternative to a 08 number, then please post it. The unverified number for head office is 020 7614 5500. Please report back on how you get on and what this is the alternative for so I can list it for others to use. :) |
