The number I would love to know an alternative for is 0870 550 1192.

He is based in Clevedon, near Bristol, so it might be a Bristol number, but the above number is run by a company in London, so it might begin 020

Apologies.  Mark Holder Racing is a horse racing tips/information line, based in Clevedon near Bristol.  Out of choice (as I chose to subscribe) I call twice a day to listen to the messages, the number being 0870 550 1192.

I would be very grateful of a number commencing 01 or 02 etc. If you still feel there is some information that I have omitted in order further aid my to achieve this,  and help others to help me, please let me know what it is.

Only you can tell us what information you have omitted. An address, web address is always a good place to start. There may be a number of steps to find an alternative number. It's like detective work, hence any information is welcome and may help someone to find more information or clues as to the number.

So, I have found the number and PO Box address for the Clevedon office. But you say that the 0870 number is run by a company in London. So what is the name of the company? What is the address of the company? How do you know this - where does it say?

In the 8 or so years that I have been part of the Mark Holder service, the identity of the "London" company who run the 0870 number has never been disclosed.  The only reason I believe it is a "London company" is because Mark Holder once mentioned them as this several years ago on his recorded message, on a rare day when the line suffered technical problems.

In view of the above, it may therefore prove too difficult to track down a geographic number here, as I am hard pressed to offer any more information than is already on these messages.  Thankyou for your help thus far, and of course any future investigation by anyone is most welcome by me.
