Title: Virgin Media Call Price Increases From 1/6/2008

"If you make calls during the day to UK landlines (that's numbers starting 01, 02 and 03), they'll cost 4p a minute, instead of 3.25p a minute from the 1st June. However, if your call plan already includes daytime calls, this change won't affect you at all. You'll pay the same great monthly rate. "

Plus the 7p connection charge of course.

Virgin Media pricing can be reached by going to:

www.virginmedia.com/callcosts

How widely do they promote this URL?

I am a Virgin non-cable braodband customer with a bundled evening /weekend call package (I had to have them as my carrier preselct phone service to get a good broadband rate).  I got an email today informing me of their new rates, adn directing me to this page:

http://www.virgin.net/allyours/talk/ratechange.html

I am intrigued that their charges are increasing, at a time when I thought landline calls were getting cheaper.  I wonder if Virgin are actually planning to run down their non-cable business - certainly all their national press advertising is focussed on their cable services.

I should say that I use 1891 etc. for all my daytime calls and will certainly continue to do so after 1 July!

They are just bringing their non-cable call costs in line with their cable call costs which went up on 1/6/2008.

I noticed the massive nearly  27p a minute  :o  to call 3 mobiles plus 7p connection during the daytime, how can they justify such charges.

Just received an e-mail from Virgin which includes the following; -

"Now Virgin Media have cut the cost of calling their teams I can put the cash I’m saving towards something else! I can call 0845 454 2222 and speak to their lovely lot about almost anything, well anything to do with my account anyway, at local rates instead of premium or national ones. That means it’ll be just 6p a minute from my landline! I might just give them a call to say well done"

Why are they still allowed to get away with the term "local rate" when it obviously isn't?

It really is disgusting how the second biggest provider in our country are so effing greedy. Still, at the top, Virgin, will always be the greey ones.  God even BT are seemingly allot more attractive these days.

However, I pay £32 a month for phone 24 non-unlimited, telly and 20mb. So its indeed my 10 years loyal custom that pays off..

Phone retentions if you have been with them for more than 4 years, and ask for the loyalty discounts, you may well be surprised.

Cheek of them though, some poor folks are scraping together to keep a phoneline going, its them that are suffering the most. All Virgin want is more money from you, just so you get on some non-unlimited package.

Thank me for something at least :P

But 084/087 will not be included in your package, so you will be paying for any calls made to those numbers on top of your monthly "inclusive calls"
