Thanks Sherbert. I did manage to find that number, but its been 'temporarily out of order' for some time. There must be a number that works, else how does the company operate?

Thanks jgxenite. A search doesn't help, as there are only references to Sky's Freesat service. The number I require is for the BBC & ITV's joint venture, also called 'Freesat' confusingly.

I don't think that jgxenite is referring to the Search part of the instructions.
He is indicating that it would be nice to GET SOME MORE USEFUL INFORMATION WITH WHICH TO WORK !!! :-/ (and YES, I am shouting !!) How the hell you expect us to work with next to nothing is beyond me. Some of us are exceptionally vigillant & can find a needle in a haystack, but it's really nice to have some idea as to where the bl00dy thing is, etc. to start with !! ::) Please take NOTE. You have been warned for the next time. |

Deepest apologies to all who work very hard here at SAYNOTO0870 for my failure to read the instructions all the way to the bottom, and consequently not to follow them. I make no excuses.
This website is highly appreciated, and people like myself who use it should value it enough to follow the instructions. Thank you for quite properly putting me to rights, although I probably won't be putting in any more requests. |

Notwithstanding my apology above, which I'm in no way withdrawing, I would like to know, Dave, why you have chosen to 'ball me out' so publicly here? I've just read the last 30 or so requests in this Forum, & several of them have not provided any more information than I, in my ignorance, did, and which I'm sure, they in their ignorance did also. Those requests were not given such abrupt, and rude treatment, by yourself or by other moderators here.
Please, if you are incensed by users of this site being inconsiderate, as I was, do at least have a level playing field and treat everyone the same, and not single out an individual, perhaps because you chose to get out of bed on the wrong side yesterday morning. I studied the Freesat website very carefully, and no address for the company is provided there, only the 0845 number, so I couldn't provide one, but that isn't an excuse for not having stated that I had done several searches and found a number that didn't work. |

brynt, I apologise for the tone of DaveM's response. Members should be advised of what to do in a polite manner. I hope this will not detract too much from your opinion of the website and forum or stop you contributing.
On the subject of an alternative for Freesat, perhaps the call centre is outsourced. I have drawn a blank thus far on who it might be. Maybe "Freesat" is not living on this planet or even in its atmosphere... ::) Quote:
If it's the BBC, then perhaps it is run by Capita. The number prefix 0845 313 is allocated to News Optimus Limited which is part of BSkyB Group plc. |

Thank you, Dave, for the apology, & sherbert for finding Freesat's address.
This is an excellent website, and you all deserve medals for providing such a service!! I will certainly keep on using it :) |

The rubbish about Freesat's 0845 telephone number being "charged at the customer’s equivalent local rate when calling from a BT landline" is still on its website. Perhaps someone would like to report it to Trading Standards or maybe contact the managing director, Emma Scott. Details here - telephone and fax numbers are 0844, naturally. ::) |

I suspect if we did, it would be reported here or in the main database. As such, it appears we don't.

tommy24, I note you have made several requests now that are just that. It would appear (judging by the length of this thread) that the number for Freesat is not going to magically appear out of thin air (i.e. no-one has it lying around written on a piece of paper on their desk). Therefore, more digging is required to find it. Perhaps you can do some research to ascertain what company operates the call centre where it is based. |

tommy24, Dave asked you a couple of months ago whether you have or could ascertain details of the firm which operates the call centre and/or where it is based.
Have you any further details of those to assist with the search for the geographical alternative you want? |

I have found out that the free sat call centre is in Brighton, dunno what will happen now. Also when i called up the admin office on 02071566066, they said they cant pass me through to the call centre cause it is on a different number. The number for the call centre is 08450990990.

I worked for freesat and can tell you that the call centre is in Brighton but we didn't even know a local number. Some agents recommend trying this website, but obviously there is no answer here. What you can do is ask politely if the agent will call you back and give him/her your number. I always do this when a customer asks, unless of course they're rude and say something like, "I'm paying this much for this call so you better be good" or some other generally angry tone, etc. If you ask, you'll only pay for the minute or whatever it takes to dial the number and get through to someone (there's hardly ever a wait time). If someone's calling from a mobile I was particularly ready to accept if someone asked. In terms of who answers the calls, yes it's outsourced. It's not by any well known BBC call centre or anything. It's a company that does a lot of something completely different and probably just subsidises with the freesat contract because it's such a small team and they can squeeze us into the corner for some extra dosh.

Considering someone has posted saying the call centre is (apparently) in Brighton, it might be best to focus the efforts for searches there instead of in London.
While not perhaps comprehensive, this seems to be a list of some of the call centres in Brighton: http://www.touchbrighton.com/business/search/typeId/1963/type/Telemarketing+Services+&+Call+Centres |

I did a bit of digging, and in fairness to what information I found, I think we may need to look for a contact number for DomGen in Brighton,
unless they handle just the warrenty of the units |

Thanks for letting us know about this. I've removed it from the listings. It was (or perhaps still is) a number for head office whose address is given on the corporate contact page: Head Office (registered address): 4th Floor, 58-60 Berners Street London W1T 3NQ United Kingdom It also says this (note the heading; this is intended for broadcasters): Quote:

Title: Re: Freesat 0845 313 0052 Post by Dave on Jan 25th, 2012 at 8:35pm
Further to my earlier posting, 020 7631 9750 is the main number for the head office and this matches 0844 225 0900.
When option 1 is selected for customer services, the message redirects to a 0845 Business Rate number. :-X A recording of the full channel list is available on the published number 0800 652 0643 and its direct alternative is 020 7631 9798. There is no access to any staff member or customer services on these numbers. |

Title: Re: Freesat 0845 313 0052 Post by NGMsGhost on Jan 7th, 2014 at 9:05pm
Well its quite clearly a case of Never Say Never with Freesat it would appear as at long, long last and after several years of conversations with this call centre (once every year or two) I was today (Jan 7th 2014) given an official 0800 alternative number for contacting the Freesat Customer Contact Centre, previously always only reachable directly for all of its opening hours on the 0845 number.
This new official 0800 alternative number for contacting the Freesat call centre (for the small number of eccentrics amongst us who for some odd reason hate paying up to 40p per minute to call 0845 on a mobile) is 0800 840 1003 This number goes straight through to the first available adviser in the Freesat call centre and completely avoids their annoying IVR menu with the usual revenue generating menu choices and subsequent wait on hold to get through. It also seems remarkable that an organisation who's whole marketing proposition is selling FTA Only satellite services to people who detest paying Sky subscriptions has made it so hard to avoid their 0845 number for so long. Hopefully this new 0800 number for calling their contact centre will now relieve the poor lady on the Freesat switchboard in London from having to manually patch through calls to the call centre from the 020 number during daytime office hours. Incredibly to this day it still sadly remains the case that if you select the IVR menu option offered on the Freesat HQ 020 number for customer services you are then immediately told to redial the 0845 number before being automatically cut off. I have also fully tested this number as working so hope that Dave may soon be able to promote this new 0800 number for the Freesat Contact Centre to the verified section of the listings. Freesat does not list the 0800 number on its website as I presume it is probably only usually given out to people such as Freesat retailers etc who have presumably expressed their repeated displeasure at having to pay a covert premium rate number in order to better advise potential customers on the product. Along with Freesat Freetime now also finally offering all four UK On Demand Terrestrial players (BBC IPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD and Demand 5), making it at least start to begin to compare with Youview, this seems to offer some hope that the management of Freesat are now finally becoming more customer focused than has appeared to be the case over the last several years. |

I have updated the listings. The 0800 840 1003 number is now listed alongside the four 0845 numbers we know of for Freesat, all of which go to the same IVR. Further down the listings are entries giving the head office number with the note "Selecting option 1 for Customer Services plays message giving the 0845 number." Please let me know if you think any more changes are necessary. |
