Hi Dave.  It's : 0113 2807080

and it takes you to Octel Voice Information processing - i.e. you need to know the mailbox AND/OR extension number.

Since without that it's useless.

This number is also an alternative for other cards' services. I believe it is GE Capital's switchboard number which means it may only work during office hours. For this reason, I won't remove it just yet as it may work Monday-Friday 9-5.

Pressing 0 for the operator/switchboard goes to the same message, so obviously there is no one there on a Saturday afternoon.


The other alternative which is given for some GE cards is 020 81810000.

Is the 0871 you quoted in the original post the new number? If so, then it is not in the database and it therefore needs updating.

That 020 8181 0000 is on the back of my ASDA storecard (also GE) as the Lost and Stolen cards number !  With 0871  522 5888 as the c/s number,

0113 2807080 now works. It says "Welcome to GE Money, if you have an account with us press 1, else hold".

As mentioned previously also, I used to work there as IT Support.

Am I to understand that this 0871 222 5454 is now being used in place of the 0870 1242415 for the Burton Store card we already have for them in the database !??   :-/

Do you have a URL for us to confirm this please ??  Failing that, we need to know where else you obtained this number.

And for some reason, at the time of the OP, the 0113 number went to "Octel Voice Information Processing" whereas the 020 number went to customer services. Was this a one off or does this happen all the time at weekends and maybe in the evening?

Well there used to be a reduced staff there in the evening & weekends but like many call centres, things are subject to change owing to budget cuts.

It may be that there's now another Out of Hours centre 'cos it's a pretty big company.  :-/
