Title: eBay 0208 number
Post by kurtis5561 on Sep 22nd, 2008 at 2:37pm
eBay are using 0208 0802105 instead of an 08 number, I for one are happy of a big company deciding on using a geograpical number  instead of a none geographicalnumber :D

Ah, a prime example of why mis-formatting London phone numbers gives rise to numbers that just look plain wrong!  I dare you to try dialing that without the 0208...

London's area code is 020.  The subscriber's number in this case is 8080 2105.  London does not and never has had an area code of "0208".

Notwithstanding that, good on eBay for having a geographical number.  Mind you, they seem to do their absolute best to hide any 'phone numbers they have from their users..

Try as I might, I can't find eBay's number anywhere on their site (in fact, even the contact e-mail form doesn't work for me, and redirects me to a list of FAQs).

How do eBay themselves quote the number? 020 8 or 0208? That could be the source of the OP's confusion.
