I think this is an excellent site
BUT
a recent change is not helpful. This is the change whereby, instead of a simple list of telephone numbers, a part of the number is displayed and we are given the option of dialing using skype.

I have nothing against skype, [is it always free?] but I do have a very unreliable internet connection, [due according to BT et al., to geography and my distance from the local telephone exchange] so using the internet connection for phone calls is not on. Unfortunately, with the new skype facility it is not possible to cut and paste the displayed number, nor easily to write it down, as the whole number is only visible for a short while when hovering the mouse over the skype button.

Would it be possible to revert to the former display format, at least as an option for those of us without easy access to skype.

I can't see any difference on the database results, this could be happening if you recently installed/used Skype, due to its browser extension.

If you use IE7, click Tools > Manage Add-Ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons > then look for something called Skype or with the name Skype in it, and at the bottom of the pop-up window, click disable.

Then restart IE and see if it still happens.

I vaguely remember something similar happening when I first started using Skype. Post to say whether this worked.

This question crops up frequently. It's nothing to do with this site, but down to the Skype software that is installed on your machine which obviously thinks it knows best how you should call numbers. There should be options within the Skype software to disable this 'functionality'.

Thankyou for the advice. The problem was caused by the skype extension to Firefox which I have now disabled.

Just for reference, I use Opera browser (v. 9.51, not the most recent version) and the right-click blocking appears to be disabled by default.

(i.e. "Tools" -> "Preferences" -> "Advanced" tab -> "Content" sub-section -> "Javascript options" button -> "Allow script to receive right clicks" is unchecked)
