okay so our washing machine packed up last week and we have insurance (At the moment!)

So got an engineer round (typical wait all day routine) turned up at 17:30 replaced the motor but turns out we also need drum assembly kit, of course he doesn't have one on the van so now have to wait, just got a letter saying the parts are delayed with a new 0870 number, we have looked up our existing 0870 numbers and they are on the database.

the new number not in the directory is 08709 502939 and the letter states if you don't want us to repair the machine you can call this number, found out that the call centre will close soon and that engineers only get paid if they do 11 call outs a day!!!!

So out washing machine 'insurance' will end at end of term and we will just get bloody ebay machines when they pack up, one engineer told us the new ones are crap anyway!

I wonder how Britain keeps from falling apart sometimes! Oh wait it is falling apart!

If you land line is with BT, you will get 'free' calls via 0870 numbers depending which package you are on

Who is the "us" you refer to?

For washing machines and electrical appliances it is often Domestic & General.

You found an alternative for the previous 0870 number but haven't disclosed what it is, what the 0870 is or what the company is.  ::)

Is this 0870 number a franchise or subscontractor who repairs machines on behalf of the insurance company?
