I need to find an alternative number for 08702416243 as this expensive number appears on my telephone bill and I do not know who it is. I never call these 08 numbers and wish to find out who they are so that I can check if my family are calling this number. Thanks for your help

It is a bit difficult with out further info. However this number is 'free' via a BT landline depending on which option you are on. If you have not got a BT landline, one way, is to ask a friend who has and and dial the number at the time when it will be 'free', for you to see who it is.

Do you have a house alarm that is connected to a phone line, or a Sky box? It is possible that it could be that 'calling home' (you haven't said if the number appears once or multiple times).

I believe this is a BT Call Centre Number. My Virgin Media bill showed an operator connected 9 minute call to this number. I deny I or anyone with access to my line made it. Virgin have agreed to credit the appropriate amount

That number puts you through to a BT Operator.
