So in a nutshell...

Geographical calls, where chargable, will now cost 5.5ppm (when VAT rate returns to 17.5%)
Call connection fee will then cost a massive 9p (when VAT rate returns to 17.5%)

I only noticed it by chance here.

So these latest price increases along with their increase to certain 0844 numbers (mentioned here) means it now costs nearly 7ppm (not including the massive soon-to-be 9p connection charge) to call the most common 0844 numbers used by many companies and GP surgeries.

So with all this rounding, the 8.8 pence figure you quote is probably more like 9 pence.


Note that the current connection charge for 0845 and 0870 numbers is 9.79 pence, thus the minimum call charges are 17p and 20p respectively.  :o

makes me miss the 3-2-1 days and the 3p local calls.. *sigh*

Calls to both 0845 and 0870 numbers now cost 10 pence per minute at all times.  :o :o :o
