Dave,

I found this number for NUFC1, on the database under Pension Service (Dept for Work & Pensions), as an unverified number, From his reply, can you put it in the verified list? :)

Just to clarify, I found this closed at 5:00pm when it switches to security, whereas the 0845 number was open until 8:00pm, so I guess the 0191 number is 9:00am to 5:00pm

0845 3000169 is the Text Phone for pension forecasts. The voice phone number is 0845 3000168 and the database already lists this with an alternative of 0191 2135000, which I gather is the main switchboard.

You can get a pension forecast instantly online if you already have a username and password for the Government Gateway issued by HMRC that lets you file your annual tax return online.

Simply go to www.thepensionservice.gov.uk/resourcecentre/e-services/home.asp follow the links and use your Government Gateway username and password.  This shows you how many years pension contributions the government already considers that you have made and any years you have missed that you are entitled to buy.

However the Pensions Advisory Service is in my experience a largely useless outfit where the staff are clueless and do not even know about you being able to get the above actual Pensions Forecast and how many years contributions you have made online......
