Title: Air France (Air France KLM)
Post by fone4free on May 19th, 2009 at 3:36pm
First off - this is a great site, which I have used since it started - but have only now joined.

It seems Air France now do not want anyone phoning them without paying. The alternative 'normal' telephone numbers that used to work now don't, so I presume they have 'improved' their telephone system! (To keep out the poor people!)

The main number now is 0871 6633777

The following numbers on this site are unobtainable:

020 87828023 / 020 87828112 (and I suspect all 020 87828***)

020 8584446* some work, some don't, but if you get an operator, they seem to have instructions not to connect you to anyone else.

I thought this might be of interest to someone - if anyone has any other valid numbers, please post them.

Air France and KLM have merged. Perhaps their reservations numbers are all answered at the same place.  :-/

I have removed the entries for the numbers you referred to. This needs more work to see which numbers work and which don't.

The alternative for reservations is the Republic of Ireland number +353 818200018, which is an 0818 non-geographical number. This is their equivalent of 0870, so really we need to find something better.

Thanks Dave (quick work!)

I don't think the merger caused these changes, I think it is more likely to do with money! I have tried a few of the 020 8584446* numbers and some of them do indeed get a 'real' person, however, they really do sound versed in their replies... along the lines of '...rather than put you through and then you find you have to wait... I'll give you the direct number to call... 0871 etc...' Once I insisted on being put through, however, when I got connected to someone, they knew nothing - I think they were actually cleaning the office at the time!!! Talk about a telephone firewall!

It may be that your site has been too successful and these companies now know which numbers to block.

Regarding the Republic of Ireland number, as it is an 0870 type number, it may actually cost just as much as the 0871 number.

I await any alternatives you may find and if I come across anything, then I will let you know.
