Delivery offices are usually only open in the mornings. Try again before midday.

If you can't get an answer from the delivery office, then I would either try the general national customer services number which is 01752 387112. Alternatively, you can arrange for redelivery online at [url=www.royalmail.com/redelivery[/url]]www.royalmail.com/redelivery[/url]


I assume that the 0845 611 xxxx numbers redirect to the central call centre when there is no answer at individual officers. I also think that it is likely that there is no need to contact the local office directly as it once maybe would have been the case.

I think that it's likely that your local office will be notified automatically by computer.

As per my previous post delivery offices are only open in the mornings. I just tried (at 11 a.m.) the number Sherbert gave, 01322 520 159, and it answered Bexley Delivery Office.

So Royal Mail FAQ which says that Delivery Office opening times vary and will be stated on the card they put through your door.

I have always assumed that most "delivery offices" are Post Offices within respective sectors as I know mine is. The red post bicycles can be seen outside, and any mail they can't deliver goes back there where it can be collected. Thus, my local delivery office is open when the Post Office is open.

Dave, what I said is from personal experience.

It may be different elsewhere but in the London area Delivery Offices are completely separate from Post Offices, they are sited in different locations and are only open in the mornings. The actual opening hours for the public are stated on the cards they leave when they cannot deliver an item, usually 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

They are actually open from much earlier for the sorting of incoming mail.

I agree with what Lompos says here. What he says goes for my area in West Sussex.

I've added a note to the Bexley delivery office giving opening times as 0800-1200. I've also added a generic entry directing users to the www.royalmail.com/redelivery site.

Awfully nice of the Royal Mail, asking their customers to telephone 0845 470 470 if they think they have been duped by their postman by putting a 'sorry you were out' card through the door when the customer was home all the time. >:( ::)
