Title: Ad Trader North East
Post by trevoi on Jul 8th, 2009 at 5:58pm
The yellow free ads mag Ad Trader has gotten a bit greedy - not only do they substitute my phone number for a 50p a minute one if people wanna get in touch - but they've also changed THEIR number to 0872 0617000

i'd be grateful if anyone could give a local number for that....

Ad Trader is part of Trader Media Group

Have a look here, where there are some geographical numbers

Cheers for that, i notice that all the numbers are from down south though - i live in North east where the original number used to be 0191 - do you think this will work?

Am I right in saying that they don't make any other charges to advertisers? If so, then the premium rate number pays for the advert.

That said, the Ad Trader regional publications page says "Ad Trader supplies a unique audience that is in the market to buy and sell and offers FREE  advertising for private sellers in the majority of classifications."

It's clearly not free when they charge using a premium rate number!

The address is:

North East Ad Trader
14-16 Phoenix Park,
Avenue Close,
Avenue Road,
Nechells,
Birmingham,
B7 4NU.
email: ne@adtrader.co.uk

This is the same address given for some other editions. It has also come up the other request we have had today for the South West edition of Ad Trader.

A search of BT Phonebook returns two entries:

1. Auto Trader Midland
General Enquiries
Tel: (0121) 333 3380
14 Avenue Close, Birmingham, B7 4NU

2. Auto Trader Midland
Tel: (0121) 333 3311
14-16 Pheonix Pk Avenue Close, Birmingham, B7 4NU

Looks like the North East edition is put together in Birmingham.  :-/

thanks for your help.
0121 333 3311 doesn't work at all
the other 0121 number is Midlands AutoTrader
and the 01803 one is just for the south.

It'd be great if anyone from the north could help.

Incidentally, the yellow paper charges a hefty whack for the paper itself which used to be enough to cover the costs but now it costs people 50p a minute to ring any number in there and 10p+ a minute to book your ads!

I think if they're not careful it will go down the pan. More hassle booking ads = less ads = less people buying the paper
