Title: Evoke Interactive Ltd Post by shywazz on Jul 13th, 2009 at 11:35am
MY 13 year old son has recently been getting texts from a number 69997 which have charged him £2 per text, i made contact with the suppiler virgin whom gave me the company name and 0870 number, which i have rang afew times to get these texts stopped, the number is 0870 199 3182 and the company is called Evoke Interactive Ltd Each time i ring there anwser machine kicks in, leaving messages that never get a return call from, again today my son has recived three texts at £6 i have now stopped crediting his phone, untill i can get this matter resolved, the chances of getting the taken money back are going to be slim to say the least, i just want these texts to stop, does any1 know of a direct number that i can ring to give them a peice of my mind and to get the texts stopped. i think companies taking money from children like this is toltally wrong and should be made against the law. to me there are stealing money from my sons phone through sending unwanted texts that there charge for. HELP

I would suggest that your son must have given his number out in the first place for them to be sending these texts, if not to this outfit then perhaps to another company where he has omitted to tick the box about passing his number on to any third person.
That aside I guess that this is a pay as you go mobile, so why don't you bin the phone and get a new one with a new number? Their email address is enquiries@evokei.com Their fax number is 020 7038 2909 Their postal addres is Medius Building LG 2 Sheraton Street London W1F 8BH If you want to find the number try dialling around thae fax number I have given, i.e. 2908 and downwards or 2910 and upwards. You can always email them to complain or fax them a complaint. If you get the number please report back so we can add it to the database. Good luck :) |

Sorry to hear about the problems your son is having. These reverse-charged premium rate SMS text messages are another rip-off that I find totally unacceptable.
As the email address supplied by sherbert suggests, this outfit's website is www.evokei.com This website gives the 0870 contact number you gave in the original post. Whois evokei.com (that's a look-up of registration information for this internet address): Quote:
Perhaps a call to Mr Aslam will get these texts stopped. A look on the Companies House database reveals information on this company: Quote:
Note that the registered address is the same as the one for the evokei.com domain name, so this is the same company. Also note that this company was dissolved on 07/05/2008. In theory, if you text STOP, they will stop sending you reverse-charged premium rate texts. For what it's worth, you should report this to PhonepayPlus, the premium rate service regulator. There is the possibility that your son did unwittingly opt in to this "service". However, I feel you should report the fact that telephoning this "company" to request cessation of SMS texts does not stop them. You might find Grumbletext a useful resource for this. They have tips on what to do about these premium rate texts. If you do post a message on Grumbletext, post a link to it here then we can follow any responses on here. Let us know how you get on. |

Just to add to Dave's post above
Their geographic fax number has been disconnected, there is a recorded message saying that it is "invalid". The number has been provided by Yac who are a telecoms company. |

020 7038 is a COLT Telecommunications number rather than a Yac one. |

Checking 69997 on the phonepayplus number checker reveals a different company and address:

That Switchfire 0870 number has an unverified entry in the database of 020 7798 2800. I'd try giving them a call too... |
