Title: being switched through from geographic to premium Post by tyutchev on Sep 4th, 2009 at 12:16pm
Hi, I'm a newbie with little recent experience of this site, so excuse naive question: if I reach an organisation on a geographic no. and they switch me through to another branch/ office/ extension, can they put me onto a premium-rate line without me knowing? If so, are they obliged to tell me so? Best wishes, Tyutchev.

They can put you through to wherever they like. However, I think that the reason for asking the question is can the call rate you are charged change part way through a call? The answer is no; the telephone network doesn't work like that. You are charged by your provider according to the number you dialled. So if you call a freephone number (for sales) from your landline it will cost you nothing. If you request to be put through to customer services, your call will remain free. |

Thanks, Dave. You are correct to redefine my Q. Best, Tyutchev.
