Title: being switched through from geographic to premium

Hi, I'm a newbie with little recent experience of this site, so excuse naive question:  if I reach an organisation on a geographic no. and they switch me through to another branch/ office/ extension, can they put me onto a premium-rate line without me knowing?  If so, are they obliged to tell me so?  Best wishes, Tyutchev.

They can put you through to wherever they like.

However, I think that the reason for asking the question is can the call rate you are charged change part way through a call? The answer is no; the telephone network doesn't work like that.

You are charged by your provider according to the number you dialled. So if you call a freephone number (for sales) from your landline it will cost you nothing. If you request to be put through to customer services, your call will remain free.

Thanks, Dave.  You are correct to redefine my Q.  Best, Tyutchev.
