Title: Novatech Post by Nobuless on Sep 24th, 2009 at 12:32pm
:-[ I have always telephoned Novatech sales on their geographical number (02392 322522 or 02392 322500), however when I tried this today, there was a slight delay before the usual welcome voice, then they told me this would cost 10p per minute from a BT landline, how is this possible? Is this a new move afoot?

The 02392 322522 is a Portsmouth area number and is charged from a BT line at the normal rate, 5ppm + an 8p conn charge,(5.25ppm and 9p conn charge from Oct 1st). put the number in the box from this link:- http://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm |

Looking at their web site their number is 0871 222 2812, it looks if your call has been diverted to this number and I don't think they are allowed to do this.
Other members on this site, will probably be of more help. |

No. It's likely that the geographic number is the target of the 0871 number. Under phonepay plus regulations, any promotion of an 0871 number must be accompanied by clear pricing information. For a period, they can state pricing information at the start of a call. It seems that they have finally realised their legal obligations and done this. There is no way anybody can change the amount you pay for a call. You will be charged by your telecoms provider according to the rate appropriate to the number you dialled, no matter what anything or anybody on the line tells you. |

As irrelevant says, this is a sign that these 023 numbers are those to which the 0871 directs calls. It is not possible for the company you're calling to affect the cost of the call, aside from provide you with a premium number such as one beginning 0871. However, you will be charged as per your telephone provider's charge rates for the respective number. The announcement of the call rate being 10 pence per minute is there because callers will normally dial via the 0871 number. |
