Title: Daewoo Electrical Products
Post by Barbara on Oct 2nd, 2009 at 7:39pm
Hi, can anyone help with a geographical number for this company's Customer Services please?   The 0870 number in the database has been changed to 0844 887 2525 for their Customer Services Helpline., the 0118 925 2500 number seems to be the office number as it is only open limited hours.

The address from the website is:
640 Wharfedale Road
Winnersh Triangle
Wokingham
Berks RG41 5TP
which also gives the 0118 number.
There is no email address, merely one of those irritating contact forms.

We have yet another case of an electrical item (digital hard drive recorder this time) failing after only four months.

Thanks for any help you can give,

I've added the 0844 number to the entry. I called it and it gives the same recording that the main alternative (0118 925 2614) gives saying that they are open Monday to Thursday 0900-1730 and Friday 0900-1615. The same message is on what we have listed as switchboard, 0118 925 2500.

So if the 0844 number is closed, then I cannot see how any "alternative" would be open. Did you try it or have you assumed that it is open now?  :-?

If the device has failed after such a short period, then it's the retailer's responsibility to rectify and not the manufacturer.

Hi Dave,  thanks for that.  I did try the alternative number and was extremely surprised by the short opening hours, customer service lines are normally open longer than the office lines, or at least on Saturdays, hence my thought that the switchboard would be for the offices.

The good news is that the retailer, an excellent independent local store but part of the Euronics buying group, has replaced the HD recorder this morning without question.

Glad to hear the issue has been resolved, although my question was intended to be, did you try the 0844 number? I suspect no.

It's often useful to do so in order to know how it answers and therefore what we're looking for in an alternative.

I have now added a note on the entry giving the opening hours and that they are the same as on the 0844 number.

I don't tend to try the 0844 nos (for obvious reasons) particularly after recent experience with the Currys one where they make you sit through a lengthy menu before telling you they are closed!  When I had to contact Daewoo with an earlier question (although it may have been a forerunner of the later problems) I emailed them & did get a fairly swift response.

As an update, the hard drive recorder (the replacement) started playing up again after only two weeks' use so contacted Daewoo who admitted to a "glitch" with the product & are replacing it (albeit with a model which no longer has series link as that was apparently the cause of the glitch & they do not restart the warranty - although for us us retarted with thye replacement on 5th October).  The number I used was 0118 925 2614 from the database, it goes through to sales but they transferred me immediately to customer services (where I was on hold for some minutes so glad it wasn't the 0844!) who arranged the replacement.

Just thought this might be helpful to anyone else with Daewoo hard drive problems or indeed with other electrical items of theirs.

Further update  - I had to call Daewoo again so I used the switchboard number from the database (0118 925 2500), this links to an automated menu & to get Customer Services I had to press * then 1 for Customer Services so there is obviously to problem contacting them without using the 0844 number (which, oddly, is still not given in the handbook, that still shows the previous 0870 number).  One thing, I was on hold then the voice said they were very busy & to call back or email but I continued to hold & it was then answered very quickly.
