Hope I'm posting in the right place. Also, although I thought there had been requests for geo nos for Arts Cinemas previously, I couldn't find any when I searched.

I have now, however, found a geo no for the Arts Cinema in Cambridge which works, and I thought the process by which I have it (accidental) might be useful to others seeking geo nos for Arts Cinemas.

The normal no for Arts Cinema, Cambridge is 0871 704 2050 with a fax number of 01223 578937.   The geo number I now have which works is 01223 578939 fax 01223 462555.   It can be seen that the geo no is very close to the fax number associated with the 0871 number (rather than the geo no) which may be a helpful piece of information when looking for nos for other cinemas.

I came across this geo number because I had emailed the Cambridge one to enquire about a missing brochure & received an email from the cinema which gave the geo tel no; I tried this & got through without any problem to someone who was able to help with film listings and times, I suspect they would also have tried to help with eg bookings if I had asked.  It may be worth anyone seeking an Arts Cinema geo no to email the one they want in the hope that a email reply will contain the geo no.   Hope this helps.

I would ask that the Arts Cinema Cambridge geo no be added to the verified listings.

This is a Picture House cinema and was listed as unverified in the database.

The main alternative was 01223 328383 labelled "Office; not booking office" and I've just tried it and it is indeed a number for the Picturehouse Arts Cinema, but not the one for booking tickets.

The number you have found, 01223 578939, was down as "administration". If you have booked tickets with this number then that is good enough for me. I have swapped these numbers round to make 578939 the main one.

What you highlight is quite a common technique because businesses often have blocks of consecutive numbers. You may find that other 01223 57893x numbers go to other lines within the building.


Remember though that there is no guarantee that any number is part of a sequence. If you find residential or other businesses nearby then it's likely that the number in question is just an odd one. I seem to recall irrelevant saying that they allocate them in blocks of 10, presumably ending 0 through to 9.

Of course, whilst you may get through to the right business, you don't know what department or room the number goes to. For example, it would be pointless ringing the projectionist to book tickets. Although if you missed a bit of the film, you could ring the projection room and the projectionist could rewind it for you.  ;D

Thanks for the info, Dave, had forgotten that is how what they are called, it's always referred to as "the arts" locally.   One point, I didn't actually book tickets, I wanted to find out about film times which were not yet available on the internet but the person to whom I spoke was also able to explain the problems they have been having with their system etc & hence delays in email newsletters & brochures, certainly he was very willing to help, as are all the staff there & I believe would have been prepared to help with bookings if asked.  When I have had to call the 0844 in the past (one time a booking froze at payment stage & I couldn't tell whether it had gone through or not), they will always call back immediately if asked hence my confidence(!) that they would do what they could on that number, certainly I was told yesterday the tills & screening times use the same system which would confirm that booking should be possible via that number.
