Newbie here!

I hope I'm posting in the correct section.

I follow horse racing (not everyday and I don't bet much at all).

I use Victor Chandler (08444434343) for commentaries and results. The service is very good and one can even listen to the commentary of a race from earlier that day.

The calls cost though.

When I (and others I know) call the service (after not using the service for a month or so) from a landline you hear the message "Hello, its been a while since you last called, welcome to Victor Chandler."

I have also noticed that the calls to the service seem to have deliberate "stalling tactics" to make the call last longer when calling from my mobile (unless I withold my number, then the patterns of the call change and are quicker).

I am told they won't give out a normal rate landline for the service.

I think the service is very good and cheaper than others but I don't like the revenue generating control freakery involved.

If the 0844 number provides an added value service then you ought to consider the charge for the call as the price for it. Calls to 08444434343 cost 5p/min.
