If they phoned you, and it is importent they will phone you back. If you are that curious telephone the number.

Yes I guess so - there have been a few like this (all 0871 something) over the past year or so and I'm not so desperate I want to spend any money to find out. So far they choose weekday working hours to call. TPS doesn't seem to catch them.

The prefix 0871 471 is allocated to the telecommunications provider Medius Networks Limited. Google the name.

Isn't it illegal to present a 0871 CLI number?  :-?

Thanks for the name ID, I'll check them. I don't know about legalities: what's CLI? Where can I find the source of such numbers (such as Medius Networks)?

Interesting follow-up to caller ID Medius Networks at http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/archive/oftel/publications/comp_bull/cases/closed_cases/cw_622.htm: they have had complaints against them for missed calls before.

Medius Networks is the telecommunications provider for this block of numbers. FWIW, write to PhonepayPlus.
