Cheers Dave,
I did do some digging, but alas as yet I have not got the main number, I will get my sister (who uses the surgery @ Albert Road) to look into it more. |

Dave coming back to this, I have done some digging... The local code for this area is 01424. There is a Lloyds Pharmacy right next to the Turkey Road Dr's and their number is 01424 220434 which leads me to belive the Dr's must have a number starting 22 or there abouts. That would mean the 739 number is Not for Turkey Road.... Am really baffled with how they can make a number vanish! If any one has any suggestions please let me know. :) * Quick Edit - I tried Googling one of the Dr's with the local area code and got this - http://www.bexhill.co.uk/info/810/ I tried the number it just rings out! :( :( |

BT's exchanges cover a particular area of a town (or maybe a small town). Each exchange will have one or more prefixes allocated to it and the number of prefixes allocated depends on the number of numbers (subscribers/lines) required. 01424 73 is for Bexhill-on-Sea as are 01424 21 and 22. This allows upto 30,000 numbers. 20 was allocated to BT in 1997, so it's extremely doubtful that your surgery will have one of these numbers. |

The BT Phone Book Companion, October 1998 lists STD codes and breaks down the different prefixes to localities or districts (exchanges) where the provider is BT. This same information is available here: http://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm The change date and operator of each prefix is published by Ofcom here. |
